CARETAKER BROKE 2,000 COMMENTS! Huzzah!

But also what the fuck?? He's just a shitty echo!

Therefore, it's time for another "Ask Me Anything"!! Ask me anything and everything and I will do my best to give you an answer!

If you want relationship info, please ask another question along with it!!

I play Yukine (Epona), Nemean (Cats), Caretaker (Tiamat Patron), and X (echo)!

THE SHORT VERSION: she is a dumb fox who idolizes knights and the knighthood. but she also has strong feelings about separating the knighthood from everyone else? in that knights exist to serve and protect people! defend the weak, uphold law, help the helpless, etc. She thinks those who have chosen to become knights should be prepared to lay down their lives to protect civilians from any harm! And, conversely, those who have chosen to not become knights should not be forced to fight at all.

(a lot of this comes from her sister, for the record! she dearly loves her sister, and her sister is scared easily. her sister was forced into a life-or-death conflict, being attacked by a basilisk, and nearly died. she never wants anyone to have to go through that!)

So, Aria understands that he made a mistake. She's willing to forgive that he made a mistake, honestly! She's hurt and upset by it but she got over that part. People are fallible and do stupid things with good intentions. The part that makes her angriest, the part she finds unforgivable, is the justification that came after the game. That knights were expected to attack rather than defend, and that civilians who had not chosen to be knights were being hurt and killed for not obeying a knight's code.

She doesn't have the full memories of the event back yet, but she understands the basic gist of what happened, and that she and her sister both owe their lives to a brave knight who happened to be there, and was willing to risk her life for a couple of mixed-blood children, without any expectation of understanding. That is what formed most of her opinions on knights, honestly. And so, when she found out Caretaker was a knight... That was what she expected Caretaker to be. He's big, furry, strong- She felt more of a bond with him than anyone else, because he not only understood knighthood, but he was like her, obviously not entirely human. She sort of idolized him.

And half her anger at him is being angry at herself for putting him on a pedestal like that. She's mad at what he did, mad at herself for idolizing him, mad at him for not living up to her idolization, mad at herself for being mad, etc.

And for a long time, she's been getting worse, honestly. Bad memory after bad memory, and then Kyriakos has endless bad games and shows no signs of improving. She is exhausted and desperately needs hope, and then the person she trusted more than anyone else in Kyr to be like her turned out to... not be. At all. It would not be exaggerating to say that Caretaker damaged her ability to trust just about anyone. Now she feels like she has to live up to her ideals even harder, but at the same time, she's not sure she can, and she is just so tired.

... And that's basically where she is in Kyr now. Caretaker influenced her current state really hard. She's basically just throwing herself into physical training and pushing herself to exhaustion, because the high from a workout + the exhaustion making her sleep is easier than dealing with any of this. She just really wants to trust people and be happy again, but she doesn't believe she can.

THIS REALLY KIND OF TURNED INTO AN ARIA SOTU AND I APOLOGIZE but that's basically a billion words to say caretaker made her sad and now she's sad always. She might feel better if she vents at Caretaker a bit, but she does still care about him a lot! she recognizes he just made a mistake and knows better, and really wants to be friends with him still, but her ability to trust is just so fucked. and because she cares, she doesn't want to just vent at him and upset him for no reason. so she kind of just bottles it all up so she doesn't have to deal with it.

tl;dr please hug this sad child caretaker.
