But more importantly HEY YUKINE WHAT ARE YOUR HOPES AND DREAMS FOR THE NEW TEAM

He really appreciates that Edward always seems to talk the time and effort to talk to him. Not only that but he always seems really honest and genuine, which is something that Caretaker treasures a whole lot. He likes knowing that he can come and talk to Edward freely without any kind of nonsense to tiptoe around. Not to mention that Edward seems to generally understand where he's coming from and there's not on very dissimilar wavelengths. Caretaker is always going to have his own opinions, but he appreciates hearing Edward's and his perspective on things.
Although it has put his heart in turmoil in how to consider wisps.ON THE FLIP SIDE—Edward is an incredibly weird person for him. He's really smart and really dumb all at once, so it's kind of like whiplash. He's already confused as hell about the polygamy thing and he's probably always going to be. He'll support it as long as it makes Edward happen but he'll never be able to really parse it in terms he can relate to. HE ALSO FUCKING HATES EDWARD STANCE ON DEATH. It makes him want to vomit in rage. He can't stand the idea of him so much as hurt, much less dead!! DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S TEMPORARY. Caretaker's going to end up sinking his teeth into an echo one of these days in an absolute fit.
He's always had a complicated history with caring about people, but he loves Edward. It's really scary for him. He'd take his own life for Edward (permanently) if he meant Edward would get to even an hour longer. There's very little he wouldn't do for his sake.
FOR THE TEAM THING:
Epona? He just hopes that he doesn't eventually get rejected by them because he knows damn well there's been a side of him that he's shown almost exclusively to his team. He knows it'll come out with them at some point and he just hopes it doesn't go terribly!! HE JUST WANTS TO FEEL AS COMFORTABLE AS HE DID WITH ALECTRYON WITH THEM.
For Alectryon? He just wants them to be whole again. He intends to do what he was supposed to last time, which is lead the team as the eldest member. He didn't last time because he got so caught up in everyone who left that he couldn't bring himself to guide a new crew.
If Tiamat dissolved, how would Ed take it? What team do you think he'd end up on?
OH AND RELATIONSHIP ME BACK.

If Ed fell off of Tiamat, he'd probably wind up on Vanara because he's a goddamn monster, or else Ratatotskr because he is basically just like SUPERPOWERED GUY WITH PRETTY SHIT LIFE. He'd be.. confused, but since there's precedent for it he'd just pick himself up, dust himself off, and keep right on going.
AS FOR CARETAKER... Ed gets along with echoes pretty well as a rule, and he feels more comfortable around them because hes used to having the sorts of world-ending powers that echoes do. He thinks Caretaker is a little naive about the strength of most people--probably their fault, since in his opinion Tiamat as a team is a fair bit more capable than other teams--they crazy.
He cares a lot about Caretaker, though, and wants to help him with anything he can help with! Much of the time he feels kind of like an adviser more than anything else, and the idea of giving him bad advice worries him. He also wishes Caretaker would chill bout the him dying thing?? I mean. He's beyond flirting with death, they've made out and he has touched her butt. So long as he can be revived after, he doesn't mind spending time in Yue's less comfortable embrace--just as long as people can quest to bring him back and it was for a good cause.

also what does he think the duty of knighthood is? since that seems to be the thing that made citrine maddest in that game that set everything off.
no subject
He likes Citrine. He has respect for Citrine.
Citrine deserves better. She shouldn't have to talk to beasts like him.
And, as far the knight thing—
In Caretaker's world, the duty of a knight is to serve the royal family. That's it. They're called holy and renowned because the royal family are believed to be gods, so naturally if you're blessed enough to join the service. . . you must be holy. It's a huge deal to get knighted! After all, being accepted as a knight means you are the Strongest and Worthy to serve the royal family. There are a gigantic list of perks that also come along with this, meaning that most of the individuals eventually get corrupted by the power bestowed upon them. Knights, as Caretaker knows them, are NOT GOOD PEOPLE. Knights have no problems slaughtering children or doing anything the royal family asks of them—His Mistress, the highest ranking knight at the time of her service, was also completely corrupt. Maybe even the most corrupt. (And if they do refuse or take issue with their orders, they "disappear" but Caretaker doesn't know this bit).
Tiamat got hit in the face with it when they saw one of his memories.
They're not honourable people or religious or chaste or anything. Caretaker has said that he was "a man of honour" despite knowing that's damn well not true, but he doesn't find honour in being a knight.
He has learned through other people that it's not quite the same for them in other worlds.

her feelings on him are so complicated now but she misses him a lot

Also any future plans for Aria?
no subject
but future plans, i am going to canon-update her soon and put her in a better place! ... and she will go from smol to tol. I actually ran a voice-testing post for her canon-update ages ago that I should dig out and make you throw caretaker at bc it was cute.
but tl;dr update to make her less unhappy all the time, and more open and honest again and also much more competent at feelings. (if you want to have them have a feelings talk tho we should do that before update for Reasons.)

They should definitely talk soon, yea. . .! HAVE SOME POWWWWOWWS. wwowww.

(a lot of this comes from her sister, for the record! she dearly loves her sister, and her sister is scared easily. her sister was forced into a life-or-death conflict, being attacked by a basilisk, and nearly died. she never wants anyone to have to go through that!)
So, Aria understands that he made a mistake. She's willing to forgive that he made a mistake, honestly! She's hurt and upset by it but she got over that part. People are fallible and do stupid things with good intentions. The part that makes her angriest, the part she finds unforgivable, is the justification that came after the game. That knights were expected to attack rather than defend, and that civilians who had not chosen to be knights were being hurt and killed for not obeying a knight's code.
She doesn't have the full memories of the event back yet, but she understands the basic gist of what happened, and that she and her sister both owe their lives to a brave knight who happened to be there, and was willing to risk her life for a couple of mixed-blood children, without any expectation of understanding. That is what formed most of her opinions on knights, honestly. And so, when she found out Caretaker was a knight... That was what she expected Caretaker to be. He's big, furry, strong- She felt more of a bond with him than anyone else, because he not only understood knighthood, but he was like her, obviously not entirely human. She sort of idolized him.
And half her anger at him is being angry at herself for putting him on a pedestal like that. She's mad at what he did, mad at herself for idolizing him, mad at him for not living up to her idolization, mad at herself for being mad, etc.
And for a long time, she's been getting worse, honestly. Bad memory after bad memory, and then Kyriakos has endless bad games and shows no signs of improving. She is exhausted and desperately needs hope, and then the person she trusted more than anyone else in Kyr to be like her turned out to... not be. At all. It would not be exaggerating to say that Caretaker damaged her ability to trust just about anyone. Now she feels like she has to live up to her ideals even harder, but at the same time, she's not sure she can, and she is just so tired.
... And that's basically where she is in Kyr now. Caretaker influenced her current state really hard. She's basically just throwing herself into physical training and pushing herself to exhaustion, because the high from a workout + the exhaustion making her sleep is easier than dealing with any of this. She just really wants to trust people and be happy again, but she doesn't believe she can.
THIS REALLY KIND OF TURNED INTO AN ARIA SOTU AND I APOLOGIZE but that's basically a billion words to say caretaker made her sad and now she's sad always. She might feel better if she vents at Caretaker a bit, but she does still care about him a lot! she recognizes he just made a mistake and knows better, and really wants to be friends with him still, but her ability to trust is just so fucked. and because she cares, she doesn't want to just vent at him and upset him for no reason. so she kind of just bottles it all up so she doesn't have to deal with it.
tl;dr please hug this sad child caretaker.

Also how is Yukine doing after the heart game?
no subject
I guess a better way to say that is that he didn't entirely trust him. Since from his point of view, Obsidian was this incredibly kind and pure individual (much like Hiyo), which doesn't make the relationship any less meaningful!! Their relationship was still meaningful, but it was just different. Yukine has a lot of issues regarding showing aspects of himself because he doesn't want to be either lectured or condemned about it. He's got a fairly poor track record with people reacting well to that kind of thing after all. The problem, however, is that he ended up placing Obsidian on this pedestal of goodness which doesn't really work for fostering a stronger relationship since he doesn't want to burden someone as kind as Obsidian with the foul parts of himself. He loves him too much to pull that kind of nonsense!
Yet in the heartgame, Obsidian showed very raw and very human sides of himself which knocked him off the pedestal into a more relatable person. Yukine appeared (in some form) to immediately come talk to him and he was able to be entirely open and honest enough—comfortable enough to call him stupid without sugarcoating it. WHICH IS A VERY BIG DEAL. There are very few people that he's that candid with and it's never a bad thing! Better yet, Obsidian is actively showing him some really shitty memories which is a huge sign of trust?
I'M JUST SAYING. EVERYTHING IS ON THE UP & UP.
Yukine loev Obsidian. They're gonna get even closer.
. . . HEARTGAME MADE HIM A LOT BETTER. In hilarious ways. He's in a better place than he's been in for quite some time. Everyone did an amazing job and really helped heal the cracks of his heart. I honestly thought I was being a dick in running another heart game, but after it finished, I see how much he fucking needed it. He's pretty happy and in a fairly confident place.
What kind of affects did the heartgame have on Obsidian? RELATIONSHIP ME BAAACKKKK.

One day, I thought to myself "man, I really want a vehicle to run games and mingles" and so I went on a hunt. I went hunting for PBs that I could design a character around!! I remembered THIS FUCKING NERDLORD I saw in a webcomic, aggressively stole his appearance for icons, and started crafting a story for him. His original personality was based of "The Caretaker" from Wildstar.
This fuck.
To which. . . he lost somewhere along the way when people started forming relationships with him and I couldn't bare to keep it since he was going to snap and start trying to eat wisps. INSTEAD HE'S A GIANT FLUFF that's entirely his own person (some kind of way) who only maybe occasionally eats some bitches.
How did you craft together Nene?
