Almost at 2.5k, so it's time for a questions meme! Hit me with whatever and anything! Especially embarrassing questions.

I play this weenie and an Echo, The Caretaker. Hawke hasn't been intro'd yet.

HE WOULDN'T (B/C WEENIE) BUT IF I DID, HE'D ASK HER. Need more threadsthreadsthreads.

. . . Oh man, if he could be wielded by people other than Yato even if it were a select few, he would be so much happier. I really mean that, by like leaps and bounds. While he likes the idea of being Yato's shinki because there's something cool about being the weapon to a god even if that god is a piece of crap like Yato, it's still pretty badass if you don't think about it for longer than 30 seconds. . . He also wants to protect the people close to him and being bonded to JUST Yato isn't going to help with that.

Yato can't be there with his team if they're separated in a game by teams or if Yato isn't even in the game at all. It makes him feel pretty useless, especially because Yato doesn't even have the first idea how to use him properly. He's basically a kid with a stick and it's a waste. It's such a waste because Ren's a long and sharp sword that could be used in dangerous situations!! Plus, he knows at some point, he's going to be pitted against other teams and that may include Yato. AS OF RIGHT NOW HIS LOYALTIES ARE TO HIS TEAM FIRST. He's ready to make hard decisions for their safety.

SO WITH ALL OF THAT IN MIND, it would probably start putting distance between Yato and himself unless Yato was making an effort to utilise him—especially since Yato WOULD NOT BE HAPPY with Ren being used by someone else. Regardless of what Yato feels, he wants to be useful, he wants to protect his important people, and the ability to do so as a sword that more than Yato could use? Huge. Huuge, especially if it meant he didn't have to become a stray or tied to some other god. He'd become a lot more confident and willing to step into the fray.

It might affect him more honestly because IT'S A REALLY BIG THING so I can't say. Too bad it'll never happen. Haha.

Do you have any particular goals you want to achieve with Arachne?

The biggest thing off the top of my head at the moment is eventually running a heart with her, since certain regains are going to leave her mindscape pretty unique! In, uh, a bad way. She's on Vanara for a reason.

Other than that, this trajectory for her is pretty new and interesting to me - she's pretty actively trying to avoid embracing some of her more negative traits she's seen in her memories, but they're still there. She's sort of torn between being who she thinks she's supposed to be and who she feels she is, if that makes sense? She gets where Elaine is coming from in terms of friendship, because Vanara is the most important thing in the world to her and everything else just sort of pales in comparison. Otherwise, though, she seems like a pretty terrible person to Arachne, and she doesn't really like to think she ever could've been someone who'd just casually permakill people.

But on the other hand, she also knows from her own experience that it feels nice to have a target for her hatred that she can mock, and admit that she doesn't care about them (it was Poltergeist so it's ok)... basically, I want to see her struggle come to a head. She can't just ignore her regains forever, but she probably wouldn't end up embracing who she used to be either! Impasses are exciting.

Back at you! Do you have any goals you want to achieve with Ren?

It makes perfect sense, actually, and I really really like the idea of Arachne warring with her original self. Then again, I'm also a huge sucker for that kind of mental strife in the first place. It would be nice if the two of them could get to a point where that'd be a valid point of discussion since he has several thoughts on the matter. IT'S TOO BAD YOU DON'T HAVE A BIGGER INFO DUMP ON ELAINE THAT I COULD CREEP ON. How can I continue to be incredibly nosy in this kind of state?

Honestly, the original plans that I had laid out for him were completely smashed to bits by the interactions that he had with his team. I was expecting for the environment plus the amnesia, Yato existing near him, and games to take him into a different direction since he initially came into the game pretty angry. I was expecting him to remain angry and bratty, but deres happened and NOW THINGS ARE DIFFERENT. Ren is a lot softer than I was expecting him to be, which is a Very New Thing for me to deal with, but Ren in general is completely different from what I'm used to because overall he's a good person. He genuinely cares for others without expecting anything back and is willing to throw himself in the fray just to protect people he actually doesn't know nearly as well as he could. MOST PEOPLE WOULDN'T PUT THEMSELVES OUT LIKE THIS. GOD.

So, with this in mind and the fact that two of his three most of significant team CR has left the game, I want Ren to start hardening his heart. He's not going to fare very well as trauma games start to come back into play, especially if there's any kind of PvP element. He'll already choose to damn another team if it means protecting his own, but not without great remorse and regret and desperate attempts to find Some Other Solution. It's the Last Resort. I want to drive him to a point where he decides who his friends and family are and is willing to do all sorts of unsavoury things to protect them instead of having clear-cut limits like he has now.

I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS'LL ACTUALLY HAPPEN, but I do want to develop him towards becoming emotionally stronger because he's pretty dependent on a lot of people around him.

Gosh, that sounds great! Wearing down those limitations and coming to terms with what you need to do is one of my favorite things to see played out! Even if things don't go that way, it sounds like you've got a pretty solid plan. I'm excited for you!

ARACHNE -> REN: She likes him a lot in general, just because he treats her well and has a personality she can jive with, on top of being on Alec, which she's endeared already to thanks to Tora (who she finds pretty adorable). She doesn't have any super strong feelings for him in particular, but she enjoys his company and would like to hang around with him more! Especially now that she knows he's a sword. That's really cool!!!

Her one problem is how much she struggles to remember any details about him after being apart for a while. It'd be uncomfortable no matter who it was, but forgetting someone she's fond of just like that seems kind of heartless to her and she doesn't really like (what she assumes are) the implications of it.

That's understandable! I hope they can get a little bit further as friends, but I really do need to go back to tagging the hell outta you. I've been distracted by things. O-oops. Ren's pretty willing to give her the low-down about the memory issues if she wants to know more about it, but since he realised she started to forget about him a little in that last thread. . . He's a little more determined to spend more time with her. Sucks to be forgotten by people he cares about.

GUESS WHAT, HIYORI'S ALREADY APPED INTO THIS GAME. SO IT'S A MATTER OF WHEN NOW.

He's going to flip his shit. He's going to flip his shit. It's one thing for Yato and him to be here, but another thing entirely for Hiyori to be running around in this hellhole at the mercy of Echoes. Hiyori is without a doubt going to be reason why he falls into shounen hell and starts trying to fight Echoes. He's really not going to take this well and he's. . . probably going to start bitch crying because he's relieved to see her and know she's OK, he's also devastated because he knows he can't protect her. Hiyori is the only person that would drive him to betray his team and anyone else. She means too much to him.

SO HE'S GONNA DO SOME FUCKED UP THINGS ONCE SHE ARRIVES. Like he's going to tell Yato she's here, introduce her to Alya as part of his family from back home, and make her known to anyone who he thinks might protect her. The Alya aspect of that is also really fucked up because he knows without a doubt that Alya is gonna consider her family if he does and he's willing to use that if it means to protect her, but it also kind of speaks volumes on how he actually thinks Alya might succeed in helping. So. :|a It's weird. He'll never be honest about this.

I'M EXCITED. HIYORI IS GONNA DRIVE HIM TO DO CRAZY STUFF AND LOTS OF IT. Yato's not the person that's going to push him past his limits, it's gonna be Hiyori.

What CR has had the biggest impact on Arachne so far?

Omg I'm so glad. Ren is such a good child, I look forward to seeing the exact moment he breaks.

As attached as she is to her team, I'd probably give it to Oz/Ace/Amber on Tiamat! At the time they met and started talking, she'd been on the recieving end of a few less than pleasant regains about her home life - while they never exactly talked about it at length, she was able to gather that their experiences were pretty similar! This was a huge step forward for her in learning to relate to people on other teams, which is a pretty big deal given the crushing apathy and lack of empathy in most of her memories, but some of the things he told her also made it easier for her to love herself. SELF-WORTH IS A HUGE DEAL.

tl;dr Oz was responsible for major departures from who she used to be just through saying the right things at the right time. I like stuff like that!

Is there anyone Ren doesn't want to see in Kyr, Hiyori aside?
