[Thanks to Yasusada just straight up NOT CARING WHO KNOWS HE'S A SWORD, it's probably at least semi-common knowledge by now that there are Swords Among The Humans In Recolle...
Unsurprisingly, where Yasusada's idiot ass goes, Kashuu also tends to follow - even in matters like this. Yukine might have noticed that he's taken to carrying around a bokuto bag pretty much everywhere he goes. But today, he'll actually get a look at what's inside! Because whatever they're doing, wherever they are, Kashuu just kind of makes a face for a second and pauses, swinging the bag around to open it from the top.]
Hang on, gimme a second-- Something weird's in here.
[A benefit and drawback of being able to feel through your sword - you can tell when tiny little things are amiss, like stray hair pins somehow getting into your bag.]
( ever since the fateful morning kashuu was kind enough to impart some make-up based wisdom on him for the sake of trying to helping shouto cling to what bits of self-confidence he could, yukine has made a point to recruit kashuu's help with work whenever possible. naturally, he's not always able to come assist, but yukine is consistently grateful when he's available and willing. this is demonstrated by making sure kashuu is fully compensated for his time, although that does mean raising his usual rates for work requests.
that's where they are today—packing up after a nice shoot near one of the older city buildings.
yukine almost doesn't even notice the bokuto bag until kashuu stops them, swinging it around to peek inside. casually, yukine leans over to try and get a better look. )
[Inside the bag itself is a rather nicely-lacquered sword in a deep red color, gold accents decorating its center. Kashuu slides it out with a practiced sort of ease, peering into the bag... And then tipping it.
A single bobbypin slides out, likely from someone on set during the shoot. He tends to Hurricane Mode things when he's helping out, after all, always wanting to put forth his best efforts and work. That means sometimes, things get misplaced! Though this is the first time anything's managed to fall into his bokuto bag.]
I guess you could call it like, a Princess and the Pea kinda thing?
( there's a pause. this feels like one of those moments where you find out something totally weird that you aren't fully equipped to handle. for a second or two, he considers just going with it but decides that he's far too interested to let this go. )
[Said in a very "OBVIOUSLY!!" tone, even if that's just his way of making the situation a little more humorous and a little less weird than it is...
Spoilers, there's no actual way of making it less weird. He's always reluctant to explain, but at least Yukine has been around long enough that he's probably already heard some weird things from other Retrospec users. Probably. Hopefully.]
Ooor, y'know... this. [Pointing to his blade now, lord.] I have this kinda connection to it, so I can feel through it.
[He'll also take this time to just stick his sword back into his bag so he doesn't attract too many weird stares while they're out and about in the city. An explanation, while he does so:]
They're basically object-spirits, I think? It's a legend that if something's around for a hundred years, it'll grow a soul of its own. I think the stuff's usually treasured too, so like, a rock that's around for a hundred years prooobably won't become a tsukumogami. It's like chairs of kings or that famous tea caddy thing or swords that samurai used a lot.
[Cue some obvious surprise, but also a little bit of excitement! He's only ever met living swords from his own world, after all, and has just kind of come to assume that everyone who's a living sword is also from... there... Especially since there were like a million of them running around.]
Eh— seriously? Sekki? [The name doesn't ring a bell, but that isn't too strange.] That doesn't sound super familiar... But hey, d'you remember the citadel?
[Well, this just shot from a level 10 familiarity back down to level 0.]
Gods? Like literal, actual gods? Like, actual Bishamonten? Oh my god.
[IT'S A LOT TO TAKE IN but he'll try to tackle the second question, too, albeit mildly less put-together.]
Uh— but if we're talking about... y'know, masters and all, I don't remember much about my newest one. The one that leads our army, yeah? But I remember the one before that. What about you?
Ooh, like a shrine sword? You must have really been something else to be used by gods and against gods and all that, though...
[Which, even as he's saying it, sounds so stupid to his own ears. Just a few months ago he was denying the plausible idea that he was a sword spirit and now he's here, chatting about god swords... Wild.]
Mm, but our army... That master was able to call us forward, since they needed us. There's this war-- or was, I guess? We had to travel aaall over time to stop another army from changing history. Those guys, the Retrograding Army - I'm pretty sure they were tsukumogami like us, but I don't remember any war gods being involved. S'any of that ring a bell?
Yea, something like that! I don't think I was ever used for humans or against them.
( simply. it sounds like kashuu is really similar to him, but also different. he can't help but wonder just how many swords there are out there. how different were they? it's almost kind of exciting.
he shakes his head. )
Sorry, I don't think I got involved into anything like that. Everything I remember is about spirits and gods.
( then a sigh. )
I'm sorry Kashuu. But I do want to hear more about your memories? If you want to tell me.
Eh— you don't need to apologize. I'm just sorry I can't help you out, either.
[Since he's sort of made it a self-appointed task to keep the other swords from his own world up to date with the things he remembers. Obviously, if they're from entirely different places or situations, nothing he can recall will help...
That said, he's just as interested in the idea of other sword-people that aren't exactly like him. He nods in the direction the quainter and quieter part of town is in.]
Talk over lunch? All this shooting's made me super hungry, and I wanna hear about your stuff, too. This is the first time I've ever met a sword who isn't from the Citadel. I was kinda starting to think we were the only place out there with, y'know... people like us. Spirits like us, I guess.
BASESLIDES IN HERE action, backdated to mid-dec!!

AGGRESSIVELY TAPS WITH BALL

How can you tell? Too heavy?
COLLAPSES DRAMATICALLY

But who is the princess in this scenario?

somehow this is funnier to me short LOL
Are you like Yamato?
LMAO BLESS and that icon im crying
That guy's going around talking about this stupid stuff to everyone who listens, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Also, yeah.
ONLY THE BEST FOR YOU BB :*
( rubbing the back of his neck. it was a pretty weird conversation, but by the end of it, yukine had given up and just decided to accept it. )
But I think I get it? You share a connection to the sword and you're one but separate?
u spoil me, wipes away a tear
[MEANWHILE, KASHUU IS RUDE so it evens out...]
But yeah, that's basically it. Mm... Did he tell you about tsukumogami? Like the living tea caddy or whatever?
kiss kiss kiss
( the blank look on yukine's face should immediately answer that. )
Noo?
:*

( how embarrassing, but kashuu should at least understand this whole situation is a bit like the plotline of an anime anyway. )
So are we like the living tea caddies?
( probably shouldn't say "we". )
no subject
[He Understands™. Saying he's come to terms with it is a little too gracious, but he's definitely adjusted.
That said, he's definitely arching a brow at that particular phrasing.]
Basically, but swords instead of tea caddies or anything else. ...We?

I'm a sword too. Called Sekki. I remembered not too long ago.

I don't remember. A lot of my memories involve gods. ( then a pause. ) I do know that I was used to slice the heavens however. And Bishamonten.
( which raises a question. )
Do you remember your, uh, master?

Gods? Like literal, actual gods? Like, actual Bishamonten? Oh my god.

I think Bishamonten survived? Probably?
( then a pause as he tries to figure out the best way to answer that. )
I do. I belong to a god of war. ( but the more interesting thing is what kashuu is saying. ) Your army? What do you remember?
