[ There's no way in fresh hell that Koushuu is going to do the whole "third time's a charm" bullshit, not after how his first two attempts went. He was just thankful it was Anya and Mao that got the misfires meant for Yukine, and not someone else, or not Eijun, so.
Here he is, knocking on the door. Because he had to talk to Eijun about his stupid crush on him without telling him it was on him. And then he had to try and navigate thought bubbles with Eijun. And he's just.
( the amount of texts that he's attempted to send to koushuu today and failed is outright staggering. every single one of them ended up somewhere weird or occasionally to someone that he doesn't even know. he almost wants to scream.
especially considering a text that ended up on eijun's phone. . .
when there's a rap at the door, something in his stomach twists and he rushes to answer it. he's all but yanking the door open as soon as he reaches it. )
Koushuu—! I'm sorry.
( even if koushuu doesn't know yet. he needs to tell him right away. )
[ Retrospec really is out to get them, and he's convinced. Between monsters and being shrunken and literally every single life threatening issue that it's thrown at them... he's not exactly a big fan. The stalker photos are something he almost misses, now, innocuous and harmless as they were in comparison. If only those simpler, shitty days were what they were dealing with.
Even misfired texts would be fine, he thinks, to go along with the creepy stalking, if not for who wound up with one of them.
But he blinks, once, slowly at the look on Yukine's face and his panicked apology when he opens the door. And then he shrugs, brief and loose. ]
I'm not mad, and it wasn't your fault. I figured out pretty fast that Retrospec was causing trouble when I tried to message you about it.
[ Koushuu says that, but there's something a little tight around his eyes. ]
( while that definitely makes him feel better, he doesn't exactly like that it happened in the first place. it's also confirmation that eijun definitely texted him about the whole thing, which is awful. like at least four kinds of awful.
it probably didn't go great.
he lets out a hard sigh through his nose, but opens the door a little wider to welcome koushuu inside. )
[ Four different kinds of awful, and he's not completely sure how to word how they've made him feel about the whole situation. Koushuu's emotional, sure, but it's all... contained, when it's more than irritation and pride. Only a few people get the rest.
Yukine, at least, is one of them. And he doesn't have to explain anything beyond what he's said for Yukine to bring him inside.
He doesn't say anything, at first. Just bumps into him as he steps through the door, a grateful nudge. ]
( there's a gentle pat to koushuu's shoulder after the nudge, a small return gesture of affection, before leading him up the stairs and into his room. it's a lot different than the one that he had at this aunt's house, this one is lot more lived in as opposed to a mini workshop.
for safety, he clicks the lock so neither one of his parents will enter by accident or design. )
[ The fact that this room is more lived in, a more obvious home as opposed somewhere Yukine went to do things, it makes it more... comfortable, to him. Koushuu is used to a quiet apartment most of the time, with his long distance relationship with his parents, but anywhere that Yukine is has started to become a second home to him by this point, with this room moreso.
The click of the lock has him exhaling in a sudden whush, and he brings a hand up to scrub it over his face. ]
It could've gone better. I very nearly confessed to him, and that was... [ His hand lowers, and he turns in a half-circle - like a dog, or a particularly agitated wolf, as he does - to drop and sit cross-legged right on the floor. ] That was the cherry on top of the whole thing.
rubbing his hands together, he bites back the urge to apologise again. it's not going to help anything, it's really not, but he does want koushuu to be well aware. urgh, but he already said it and koushuu definitely knows. )
One day it's going to come out, Koushuu. Either on your terms or not.
( that much he feels is true. then he's sitting down in front of him. )
[ Shifting when Yukine sits down across from him, Koushuu doesn't try to put more space between them. Instead, he presses their knees together, simple contact that he seeks out, a small comfort.
And, also, reassurance that it's okay. It wasn't Yukine's fault, really. Nevermind that Koushuu would never, could never, find it in him to be angry with his best friend. For as much as he loves his parents, and feels strongly for Eijun, this is his important person, really. ]
I know. [ Soft, simple. But he sighs out of his nose. ] We should hang out. Do... something.
9/5 whomp whomp
