[ However long it usually takes to get from her house to his house is not how long Yukine has to wait. In the next minute, his fence door swings open, and Chiyo comes running in.
She's out of breath and out of her mind with worry, and she throws herself at Yukine for a hug. ]
( he nearly topples over from the force of her hug, arms flailing for just a moment before clinging to her both for support and to return her affections. )

( it takes him a moment to get his bearings but once he does, he's holding her tightly. )
[ Her embrace is just as tight, and she pours all her love into this hug. She wants him to feel loved and safe and like there's always a place for him to belong. She doesn't know how to guarantee that and she doesn't know how to foster those kinds of feelings, but she'll always try her best for her cousin. ]
Oh, Yukine, I'm sorry you felt so alone. I don't know what I'd do without you. Even when you didn't live here, you always kept in touch with me, and that meant the world to me. You mean the world to me.
[ When Rin left to Australia all those years and cut contact, if Chiyo didn't have him, Mikoto, or her other friends, she would've been a different person than she is today. ]
( it's said so easily and honestly, pouring out of him as he slowly rubs a hand across her back in what he hopes is a soothing motion. he means what he says and he means it so fiercely. chiyo has always been such an important part of his life and even more so now that they live in the same city. he can truly say that he's never felt alone.

I don't feel lonely anymore. My favourite cousins are right here with me, right? You and Smelly?
( of course, with "smelly" being rin. all of the tenseness starts to melt out of him, falling away to be replaced by the warmth she provides. )
