despite the obvious miscommunication regarding cake, yukine takes her inside the shop to purchase some cake to share and an extra piece for her mother for the sake of being an appreciative guest. thankfully, it doesn't take them long to get in and out—just like yukine had promised—and after their brief delay, they're well on their way towards anya's house. most of the trip so far has been yukine showing anya an assortment of photos he'd taken on his phone.

Okay, okay, see this one? This is the calico who lives somewhere in the neighbourhood. She's someone's pet, but she travels around anyway.
[she's been making varying cat noises at his phone with every new picture, just so you know. Sometimes it's nya, sometimes it's meow, sometimes it's whatever noise cats make in Russia and sometimes it's just Anya perfectly mimicking a purring sound.]
We are almost to my house - you will meet my cat! His name is Polaris.
( it's too cute! so cute. it's part of the reason why he can't stop showing her photos because he's enjoying every moment of this. how could he resist? it's impossible.
but he also perks up at the idea of meeting her own cat. )
That's a really cute name! What kind of cat is he?
Polaris is a white fluffy Ragdoll cat! He is like a warm and fuzzy snowball. [briefly, she interrupts what she's saying to make a soft purring noise. ] Mm, he is always good when Anya needs a cuddle.
[she's so happy.... but she can see her house in sight and her eyes sparkle when she notice. ]
Right now he is probably keeping company with one of my friends staying at the house. Yukine can meet them both!
[questions that Yukine will regret asking: this one. Anya's eyes light up at the mention even as she pulls her hand from his so that she can start to dig through her backpack for her house keys in case her house guest might be sleeping.
She hums a happy, melodic little tone as she does.]
He disappeared from me for a little while, but now he is back and needed a place to stay. I hope he is resting.... but please be kind to him? I love him very much.
( he'll suffocate under the weight of his own regret from this particular error. he watches her fetch her keys with a little bit of interest, mostly just curious by this point. )
He sounds kind of sketchy? Are you sure it's alright?
[there's a moment as she laughs even as they stop in front of the door, pulling her keys from her backpack]
A lot of people say things like that about him... but we have been friends for years now? Mm. He is like... защитник? ["Protector" is the word that she likes, taking a moment to try to conjure it up.] He makes me feel safe. Happy.
I worry less when he is close... that feeling.
[And she offers a little smile before actually moving to unlock the front door.
