( yukine insists as he tucks the both of them in a tiny little reading nook in the corner of the cafe. it's effectively hidden away from view from the rest of the cafe by a fancy half partition already decorated with various holiday tins and statues, which yukine thinks is perfect. if they can just dodge out of view, then they shouldn't be bothered!
he almost gets time to feel relieved as he plops down onto the couch, tugging at shouto's hand to encourage him down with him. )
See, they're not going—
( he starts, words dying in his throat as the bats swoop in as soon the next customer opens the door. fearlessly, they linger almost directly over them, dangling the mistletoe between them in a completely unsubtle hint. )
( there's no hesitation or delay. when shouto asks for his hand, yukine easily offers it up to him for whatever shouto is planning on doing. if shouto would prefer to kiss his hand then yukine isn't about to stop him. in fact, it's actually really sweet.
( if it's a kiss that's required of them, then why not do it right? sure, he could probably keep trying to run away, but yukine really didn't want to spend his entire day fleeing from obnoxious bats trying to goad him into kissing the person he'd actually like to kiss. . . when he could just kiss him.
and besides, even if that's not what the bats are after, yukine still comes out a winner in this situation. )
Positive.
( his offered hand clamps around shouto's, holding it gently as he leans forward, his other hand holding on to the back of the couch behind them for support. he can feel his heart jump in his chest as he closes the distance, lips softly pressing against shouto's in a chaste kiss. )
[He doesn't have words or thought to correctly convey his embarrassment and pleasure at the situation at hand.
As soon as Yukine's lips are against his, he goes completely still. Before kissing back, soft and hesitant- he's new at this and he's trying to do his best.
But it does seem like enough for the bats to leave them alone.
( as far as stuff like this is concerned, yukine has no real experience underneath his belt, but he thinks that's perfectly okay. maybe this isn't as romantic as it could be or maybe he isn't going to be amazing at this, but the important part is that he's getting to do it for the first time with shouto. it's also okay that shouto doesn't react at first, yukine is honestly expecting as much because he thinks he'd do the same if the positions were reversed. he just offers shouto a reassuring squeeze of the hand. maybe that'll help.
he's just about to pull away when shouto reacts and suddenly yukine can't bear to cut this short. he keeps kissing him instead, slow and gentle as if he had any idea what he's doing. maybe if he fakes it, it'll turn out alright in the end.
thankfully, both bats seem satisfied and exit the cafe.
[Shouto has no idea about the bats, because this is his first kiss with his boyfriend and it's making his heart pound. It's nothing big or heavy... but it's still his first kiss with Yukine and it's in public and he can't help smiling into it.
But he does eventually have to pull away.]
... Wow.
[Is that the right reaction? Who knows. It is, however, his reaction.]
( yukine lets out an anxious little laugh when they break away, suddenly all nerves as he tries to wrestle with the fact that he just kissed shouto in a coffee shop like it was nothing. it was great and he doesn't regret a second of it, but he also feels a little shame for being bold in the wrong place. hopefully it wasn't too bad for shouto.
he ducks his head down a little bit, trying to hide that belated flush that colours his cheeks. )
Sorry I didn't do that sooner!
( it isn't what he means to say. it's just the first thought that comes in his head and it's falling out his mouth before he can think to stop it. of course they hadn't kissed before this! there wasn't time and then shouto forget and that didn't feel quite right in itself and—
